It was conducted in Patchogue at the parking lot at 120 South Sunrise Service Rd. between 11:15 p.m. Friday, Sept. 2, and 2:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 3.
The multi-agency checkpoint is part of an ongoing enforcement crackdown targeting alcohol and drug-impaired driving during the Labor Day weekend.
Police officers from the Suffolk County Police Department’s Highway Patrol Bureau conducted the joint operation with New York State troopers and Suffolk County Deputy Sheriffs.
A total of 392 vehicles went through the checkpoint.
The following people were charged with driving while intoxicated:
- Richard Byron Ethan, age 24, of Medford
- Thomas Dolan, age 32, of Patchogue
- Douglas Weiss, age 26, of East Moriches
The following person was charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs:
- Michael Vitale, age 34, of East Patchogue
The following people were charged with driving while ability impaired by the combined influence of drugs and alcohol:
- Warren Carl Booker III, age 30, of Riverhead. Additionally, police said his vehicle was seized due to a prior conviction of DWI.
- Jonathan Rojas, age 26, of Lindenhurst. He was additionally charged with two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance for possessing cocaine and psilocybin, according to police.
Those listed above are due to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Saturday.
- Additionally, Estrella Juan Pesantez, age 40, of Mastic, was charged with driving while ability impaired by alcohol and was given an appearance ticket to be arraigned in court on a future date, police said.
